At Solutions Counseling Center, LLC, we believe that mental health care is an essential form of personal growth. It influences how we handle emotions, made decisions, and build relationships.
We provide counseling that helps you learn to reframe negative thoughts and view challenges as opportunities for learning and growth. These techniques help with a wide range of mental & behavioral challenges.
Helping my clients build skills and become better versions of themselves is a great honor. I honestly look forward to our work together.
Anxiety is the # 1 reason people come for Counseling. Anxiety includes stress and worry that is uncontrollable. It impacts our relationships, careers, and physical health. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an excellent approach. This helps people learn to reframe scary thoughts into accurate thoughts. It is immensly helpful with: performance anxiety, social anxiety, generalized anxiety, and panic attacks.
Depression plagues people from every walk of life and it can rear its head when it is least suspected. Some types of depression are post partum, seasonal affective disorder, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. The concept of depression has a strong history. In fact, Hippocrates 5th century BC recognized the crippling symptoms of depression (previously referred to as meloncalia). Helping you learn to manage your negative thought patterns and motivating physical (joyful) activity are key.
Trauma (PTSD) takes on many forms. It could be childhood trauma, vicarious trauma (first responder / police / military), or even domestic violence / emotional abuse. I utilize EMDR which is eye movement desentization & reprocessing. It works like this: You focus on disturbing memories while I simultaneously guide you through bilateral eye stimulation. This mimmicks rem sleep and aims to reduce the emotional impact of the memory. Many people experience relief in just a few sessions.
Alcohol use comes in many forms ranging from 1 beverage per day to bingeing a couple times per month. It's no surprise that alcohol use impacts the ability to sleep and regulate emotions. It also impacts relationships and careers. It may surprise you that we can work together using a "harm reduction" approach or an "abstinance" approach. In either case, I use motivational interviewing to help you take steps forward on your sobriety journey.
As a Certified Career Counselor, I help people with work related problems. This includes: career exploration and direction, including: resume writing & interview coaching. It also includes helping people through layoff / terminations, and transitions into the workforce and out of the workforce (retirement careers. I strongly advocate for self-employment / alternative employment especially when emotional / behavioral problems exist.
